The Art of Living Well Podcast®

Jul 29, 2020

We are thrilled to bring you today's guest, Kristina Browning. Kristina is a licensed Realtor in Oregon state. She is also a Home Functionality Coach and Podcaster helping clients choose the right home and then mold it specific to their own family and needs.

She writes and produces a podcast called "Home Space and Reason” about home styling, automation and functionality. You’ll even hear a bit of history and psychology so this isn't your typical HOME podcast! This podcast would be most enjoyed by people who like HGTV, making their home space "elevated" in appearance, organization and possibly exploring how home automation could benefit them.

Kristina is a wife and a mother to a seven year old boy. Her passion is helping people create a home that thrives not just for today, but for the long haul.

In our conversation we dive into the functionality of the home and how you can set it up to function for the framework of your life.

Kristina works with clients by asking them questions about their space, such as how it's being used and if they have the space to do what brings them joy.   A few of the things we discuss is lighting, paper, grow lights and clutter and how that can affect your space. We so loved this conversation and we are very inspired to make changes in our own homes!

Lighting info:
Here's a breakdown of light bulb color temperature:
  • Soft white (2,700 to 3,000 Kelvin) is warm and yellow, the typical color range you get from incandescent bulbs. This light gives a warm and cozy feeling and is often best for living rooms, dens and bedrooms.
  • Warm white (3,000 to 4,000 Kelvin) is more yellowish-white. These bulbs are best suited for kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Bright white (4,000 to 5,000 Kelvin) is between white and blue tones. With a less cozy and more energetic feel, bulbs with this color range are best for work spaces (like a home office or garage)
  • Daylight (5,000 to 6,500 Kelvin) has a more bluish tone. This light color will maximize contrast for colors, making it ideal for working, reading or applying makeup.
