The Art of Living Well Podcast

Apr 29, 2020

You are going to be so inspired by today’s conversation with Anna Needham from Tao Natural Foods, who shares with us the art of living in balance with nature through food and holistic healing modalities.

Anna is the co-owner of Tao Natural Foods organic cafe and their natural wellness shop, Tao Herbery, which has been around since 1968.  She is an acupuncturist and a mother of three.  Her niche is providing resources for our community so they may achieve their health goals naturally and in harmony with nature. She believes that what we eat dramatically influences both the health of our body and the health of our planet. She understands that a state of imbalance may be brought back to a state of balance through cleansing toxins, eating organically grown (non toxic) foods and consuming herbal medicines to deliver needed nutrients; health achieved while in harmony with nature; this is her motto and one that is engrained in the community she's created at Tao.

Anna shares insight into Chinese medicine and how our body needs to work in balance to heal itself.

A few things Anna mentions that you can do to boost your immunity.

-Pay attention, trust and listen to your body and what it's telling you. Slow down and nourish your body at the first sign of a headache or other flu like symptoms. Anna mentioned this wonderful herbal flu remedy: Oscillococcinum

-Cook/eat onions, garlic, shallots and ginger.

-Cook with lots of fresh herbs (basil, cilantro, oregano).  Try making your own bone broth with an organic chicken and herbs.

-Choose organic foods, free of chemicals and pesticides.

-Drink herbal teas (dandelion root is good for detoxification, which is important in the spring).

Books Anna mentions: The Herbal Kitchen , A Kids Herb Book

Anna shares Tao's exciting news that they are looking to expand into a larger space so that they can offer more services, including a natural clinic to treat patients 100% naturally.
