The Art of Living Well Podcast®

Jan 6, 2021

We are thrilled to bring you today’s guest, Maria Uspenski, the founder and CEO of The Tea Spot, where her mission is to advance healthier living through the everyday enjoyment of whole leaf tea. The Tea Spot’s vision to modernize the loose leaf tea experience has held steadfast since the for-profit philanthropic company was founded in 2004.  Maria, a cancer survivor was drawn to the health benefits of leaf tea during her recovery. Her message is simple and powerful: Tea in its freshest form renders premium flavor, unmatched health benefits, and is eco-friendly.

Maria is also the author of “Cancer Hates Tea”, which is a beautiful and very informative and inspirational book that was published in 2016.  She was recognized as the “Top Tea Health Advocate” at the 2017 World Tea Expo and is often featured at conferences nationwide, in print media, on television, and on radio and podcast interviews for her success as a social entrepreneur and certified tea and fitness nutrition expert.

The Tea Spot, Inc.TM is a leading producer of handcrafted whole leaf teas and creator of Steepware®—the housewares tools that make your daily tea practice easy and fun. The company’s mission to empower healthy living through tea fuels their 10% Pledge to cancer & community wellness.  We love that this Boulder, CO company is also a certified B Corp, which provides the assurance that their Wellness pledge aligns with its goals.

The Tea Spot’s premium, award-winning loose tea blends are micro-blended in small batches. The company’s inspiring hot and cold brew teas rise up to meet the challenges of modern life.

Whether it’s a kick to get you going in the morning or just a small escape from the stresses of the day, at The Tea Spot there’s a handcrafted tea that’s perfect for every moment. With full-leaf teas, botanicals and functional teas, the company has evolved age-old traditions to allow exquisite flavor and good health to collide in every cup.

We had a wonderful conversation with Maria and could have talked with her for hours. Even as avid tea drinks we learned so much about the health benefits of tea, including the different types of tea and why the quality of your tea really makes a difference.  We both are huge fans of The Tea Spot, drinking their delicious teas daily and using their trademarked steepware, which really does make drinking looseleaf easy and accessible even when you’re on the go.  Maria shares the benefits of drinking a variety of different teas and her tips to start a tea habit.

We think drinking high quality and loose leaf tea throughout the day to stay hydrated is a wonderful habit to introduce as we kick off the New Year as we are even more focused on our health and immunity.
